Synopsis
The show Money Heist is a riveting and Spanish crime drama. It premiered on Netflix on December 20, 2017. The Professor recruits a band of misfit criminals and prepares them to execute his plan to rob the Royal Mint of Spain. As an ode to his father, the Professor engages in the ultimate chess match between his team and the police. Though the Professor’s plan is well thought out, mishaps and mistakes happen. In this high stakes game, the team must deal with the consequences of their actions and recover as best they can.
Quick Character Thoughts
There is a myriad of colorful and wonderful characters throughout the show Money Heist. But I have to count the Professor and Nairobi as my favorites. Though the whole show is narrated by the character Tokyo, she proves to be one of my least favorites along with her significant other Rio. Though many will love her for her brash boldness, she gets way too emotional in tough situations. She is terrible at handling a crisis and her actions many times prove to be self-serving. Her significant other, Rio is the same. Coupled with his young age and naïveté, Rio’s feelings get the best of him and it proves to be a detriment to the team on more than one occasion.
I love the Professor because he is brilliant. And although he seems stoic at times, he cares deeply for each and every one of his team. And Nairobi just has an infectious, joyous can-do attitude. If I was ever stuck in a television show and needed a pep talk, I wouldn’t want anyone but Nairobi to handle it. By the end, I grow quite fond of Denver and Helsinki as well. The longer the series runs, the more you get to know the characters. And the more you grow to love them, flaws and all.
Overall Thoughts
The show Money Heist is completely riveting. It had me on the edge of my seat from episode one and it’s amazing watching this story unfold. There is always a plot twist around the corner and nearly every episode ends on a cliffhanger. It just made me want to keep watching. I came to this series late and was convinced to watch it by my brother. As of now I’ve watched all three parts that are available twice, and am anxiously awaiting part 4 in January 2020. If you like shows that keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat, then Money Heist if the show for you.
